Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE), Crime Branch Kashmir conducted a cybercrime awareness-cum-interaction workshop at Minto Circle School, Srinagar
The inaugural lecture was delivered by DySP Nasir Syed Kirmani. He abreasted the students with present trends adopted by cyber scammers and their prevention. Dy. SP Arif Ahmad discussed the importance of cyber hygiene with students. Inspr. Arshid Mustafa deliberated on live case studies. At the closure of the workshop, DySP Ashiq Hussain Malik, SHO PS, CICE, Srinagar delivered a detailed and insightful talk on dos and don’ts in use of social media. Stress was laid on taking due care while choosing friend request and the impact / risk of random selectios was thoroughly explained.The participants were also made aware regarding use of 1930 (helpline number) , National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal ( NCRP) and website www.cybercrime.gov.in for registering complaints. Owing to ongoing campaign regarding Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative, the ill effects of drug abuse were also discussed and emphasis was laid for the need to combat drug abuse alongside cybercrime.
The workshop was also attended by Vice Chairman of the school namely Mr Altaf Ahmad and faculty members. Besides, senior journalist Arshid Dar was also present to grace the event.
The primary objective of engaging with the students was to ensure dissemination of awareness at grassroot level thereby helping curb the growing menace of cybercrime and drug abuse.
At the end, Vice Chairman Mr. Altaf Ahmad delivered a vote of thanks, appreciated and hailed the proactive role of the police in safeguarding the lives and interests of the general public in general and students in particular besides honoured the visiting team with momentos The. event was attended by around 400 participants.
