In continuation of its sustained awareness programmes and seminars aimed at combating the growing menace of cybercrime the Cybercrime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE), Crime Branch Srinagar, J&K Police today conducted a comprehensive cybercrime awareness programme at Spring Buds Higher Secondary School Ompora Budgam.

The interactive session was held in the conference hall of the school and witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 100 students along with the Principal and teaching staff. The programme was conducted in an engaging and informative manner, reflecting great zeal and fervour among the participants.

During the session students were sensitised about the latest trends and modus operandi adopted by cybercriminals. The speakers elaborated on various prevalent cyber frauds including KYC related scams fake job offers loan and investment frauds, and digital payment related crimes such as tap and pay frauds. Special emphasis was also laid on gaming and online lottery frauds which have increasingly targeted young users. Practical tips and preventive measures were shared to help students identify suspicious activities and safeguard themselves in the digital space.
The resource persons for the programme included Inspector Arif Ahmad Inspector Arshid Mustafa and Constable Umar Nabi who addressed the gathering and interacted with students answering their queries and providing real life examples to enhance understanding.
Speaking on the occasion the Principal of Spring Buds Higher Secondary School Mr. Shahnawaz Shafi lauded the efforts of the Cybercrime Investigation Centre for Excellence, Crime Branch Srinagar JKP for their proactive initiative in inculcating awareness among students about the growing threat of cybercrime. He emphasized that such programmes are crucial in empowering young minds to use technology responsibly and safely.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by CICE Crime Branch Srinagar to continue its outreach initiatives across educational institutions, aiming to create a digitally aware and cyber safe society.
