India Capitals defeated Manipal Tigers and cemented their place in the playoffs.

Srinagar : Banking on a clinical knock by Ben Dunk in the first innings and some economical bowling performances in the second innings, India Capitals defeated Manipal Tigers by 13 runs at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar on Thursday.

Manipal Tigers won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. For India Capitals, Dwayne Smith and Dhruv Jatinbhai Raval opened the innings. The duo added 36 runs on the board before Raval was dismissed for 17 from 11 balls. Smith was then joined by Iqbal Abdulla in the middle. They could only add 30 runs for the second wicket. Smith scored 29 from 32 balls and Abdulla made 8 from 9 balls. Ben Dunk created a huge impact in the match as he scored 97 from 47 balls. At the end of the innings, India Capitals posted a score of 185/7 in 20 overs.

For Manipal Tigers, Asela Gunaratne (3/10) was the pick of the bowlers. Obus Pienaar (1/26), Anureet Singh (1/39) and Thisara Perera (1/34) bagged one wicket each in the innings.

Chasing a target of 186 on the board, Phil Mustard and Solomon Mire opened the innings for Manipal Tigers. They were down to 18/2 in 3.4 overs. While Mire was dismissed without opening his account, Manoj Tiwary made 7 from 11 balls. Mustard scored 20 from 19 balls. Daniel Christian and Amit Verma added 25 runs for the fourth wicket before Christian was dismissed for 24 from 19 balls. Amit managed to make 21 from 23 balls. Obus Pienaar scored 28 from 8 balls. Towards the end, Anureet Singh, played a quick fire knock and remained unbeaten on 50* from 18 balls. Manipal Tigers could manage to add 172/9 in 20 overs.

For India Capitals, Dhawal Kulkarni (3/21) and Iqbal Abdulla (3/29) were the pick of the bowlers. Avinash Bhailal Yadav (2/38) took two wickets and Pankaj Singh (1/26) one wicket in the match.
