The Hon’ble Mayor SMC, Mr Junaid Azim Mattu chaired a review meeting on Sanitation,Enforcement and Revenue along with Mr Haris Ahmad Handoo, Additional Charge as Commissioner SMC and other senior officers from SMC.

Convened to review various management initiatives undertaken by the Corporation, a threadbare discussion was held on the user charges. During meeting, Mr. Mattu passed on many directions regarding the collection of user charges . He directed the all ward Officers to prepare a detailed list of people who are not paying the user charges so that a legal action will be initiated against them. Directing them to identify the habitual non payers of user charges in their respective wards, Mr. Mattu stressed upon the concerned officials that the user charges should be collected on regular and priority basis. Mr.Mattu further directed the Ward Officers to distribute Auto Fee Forms among households so that households pay every month via Auto mode.
While taking a detailed review about the overall status of waste collection, He enjoined upon the concerned officials to improve and speed up the waste collection. During the course of meeting, the Hon’ble Mayor also instructed the Compost Officer to submit the detailed requisition for Compost vehicles in order to increase the fleet of compost vehicles in the city. Passing orders for the smart management of resources,Mr Mattu directed A.E.E Mechanical to come up with a proposal to have one big Compost Vehicle with one small Compost Vehicle for each ward so that corporation will be able to cater the public demand of Srinagar city.
Taking a detailed note of the site checks made by the officials, He directed them to intensify site checks and ascertain whether the structures are coming up in compliance to permission. During the course of meeting, Mr.Mattu directed CRO to convert a structure into commercial one where ever they find the commercial activity goes on in a residential area in accordance with parameters of Master Plan. He passed strict orders to CEO and Secretary to check the building permissions thoroughly.
While taking a strong note on continued use of single use plastic in the city, He directed the concerned squads and teams to raid the whole sellers dealing with single use plastic and punish them severely through heavy penalty and imprisonment.
Discussing the development of Vegetable Market at Wazir Bagh, Hon’ble Mayor enjoined upon the officials to ensure the foundation stone of the intended market is laid out during this month and the project be completed in a time bound manner.
