Holi celebrated in Kashmir Valley
Srianagar,CNS,18-Mar; Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated here in valley today by the Hindu community and security forces with traditional fervour and gaiety.
People in the Kashmir Valley splashed and smeared colours on their family members and friends. Security forces posted in the Valley also celebrated Holi, far away from their families and friends. Paramilitary and army troopers gathered in their camps and danced to the beats of popular Holi songs besides smearing colours on each other. Many tourists also celebrated the festival in Kashmir and also received warm wishes from locals. The celebrations were also held at famed Mughal Gardens in Srinagar with tourists enjoying music amid beautiful scenes of the Dal Lake.
The shopkeepers in Maharaja Bazaar here, famous for selling festival celebration products, had announced rebate on such products in view of the festival.
While expressing joy over the celebrations of Holi in Kashmir, Atul Mishra,One of the tourist said, “This shows the unity and brotherhood that is alive in our Valley and I have a great pleasure to extend my greetings and good wishes.”
He added, “This festival of colours, brings joy, happiness and foster the spirit of unity and harmony amongst our citizens. This festival fills our lives with happiness and promote national integration.”
While praying for the equality, Mishra said that that the colours of Holi will remove all evils and create an atmosphere of equality and harmony. He urged people to observe this festival of harmony and friendship harmoniously.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Holi.
In a message, the Lieutenant Governor said that the Festival of Colours symbolises the spirit of unity in diversity, harmony, and inspires us to move ahead with new hope for a brighter future.
“May the colours and vibrant energy of this auspicious festival further strengthen peace, and bring about prosperity and happiness for all,” the Lieutenant Governor added.
Advisors to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar and Farooq Khan have also extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of ‘Holi-Festival of Colours’.
While extending their greetings, the Advisors remarked that this festival indicating the onset of spring in our country, is an occasion to rejoice in the glory of nature in all its vibrant colours. They added that this festival gives us an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and deepen the bonds of friendship amongst us.
The Advisors also highlighted that this festival symbolizes the spirit of unity, harmony and tolerance, for which our country is known across the globe.
The Advisors also prayed for the peace, prosperity and progress of entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Several other political leaders and activists have expressed hope that the festival of colours will guide Jammu & Kashmir towards peace, progress and prosperity. They have also prayed that this festival may fill colours of happiness in everyone’s life in Jammu and Kashmir with and also further strengthen brotherhood and communal harmony in the UT. (CNS)
