3rd day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’: Three plays staged at Tagore Hall
Srinagar, CNS, 29-Mar: Three plays were staged on the third day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’ being held at Tagore Hall here.
The plays included ‘Social Evils In Our Society’ in Kashmiri, Urdu & English by Mallinson Girls School (Written and directed by Warda), ‘Hugs Not Drugs’ in Kashmiri & Urdu by Tyndale Biscoe School (Written by Haziq Javeed and Hamad Farzeen, directed by Haziq Javeed) and ‘Chek Daar Paether’ in Kashmiri by Azad Dramatic Cultural Club, Repore, Ganderbal (Research and revived by Reshi Rasheed, directed by Masoom Ramzan).
The second edition of the festival will conclude on 2nd April and is being organised by Actors Creative Theatre (ACT) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
The plays were witnessed by a good gathering of audience and especially the students of different schools and colleges.
S. Humayun Qaisar, former director All India Radio Srinagar was also present on the occasion. “It’s heartening to see the performance of talented school students and their concern for issues faced by youth and highlighting them in a subtle way,” he said.
“Many a thanks to ACT for providing this platform to raw talent which they don’t usually get,” he added.
Three plays will be staged on Wednesday (30th March) that include Darze Paether in Kashmiri by S R Theatre, Repore, Ganderbal (conceived by Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and Directed by Sahil Shafi), Nyay in Kashmiri by Feroz Cultural Forum, Badipur, Budgam (Writer – Dr Aziz Hajni, Director – Rafiq Ahmad Dar) and Chup Kar in Hindustani by Ridhiaksh Theatre and Film Productions, Jammu (Writer- Shazi Khan, Director- Rajeev Rana).
Festival director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said they got to witness the unexplored and fresh talent of the valley. “The interesting part is that these students have come up with amazing stories connected to our daily lives which give us lessons to learn,” he said.(CNS)
