Kashmir’s Young Minds Shine at National Science Seminar 2024
In a remarkable display of scientific prowess and innovation, students from across Kashmir Division gathered at the SCERT Complex in Bemina, Srinagar, for the Divisional Level National Science Seminar-2024 (NSS-2024). The event, held under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director of SCERT-J&K, showcased the region’s brightest young talents as they competed for a coveted spot in the State Level Competition. The seminar, focusing on the theme “Artificial Intelligence: Potentials and Concerns,” saw participants from ten districts demonstrating their deep understanding of cutting-edge technology and its implications for our future. The competition was fierce, with each student bringing their unique perspective and innovative ideas to the forefront.
In a thrilling conclusion to the event, Misba Manzoor, a 9th-grade student from Lones Noble Mission Educational Institute in Baramulla, emerged as the divisional topper. Her exceptional performance not only secured her place as Kashmir Division’s representative but also led to her triumph at the subsequent State Level competition on September 12, 2024.Prof. Manhas, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of scientific curiosity and exploration. “These young minds are not just participants; they are the architects of our future,” he stated, igniting a palpable sense of enthusiasm among the attendees. The event, sponsored by the National Council of Science Museums under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, exemplifies the nation’s commitment to nurturing scientific temper among its youth. It provided a platform for students to showcase their knowledge, creativity, and innovative thinking skills.
Mr. Roshan Lal, Joint Director of SCERT-Kashmir Division, flanked by Dr. Zahoor Ahmad and Mr M. Sultan Khan AU heads of SCERT-KD praised the dedication of the students, teachers, and organizers. “The level of preparation and enthusiasm we’ve witnessed today is truly commendable,” he remarked, highlighting the collaborative effort that made the seminar a resounding success.A distinguished jury panel, comprising senior academic officers from various departments, evaluated the presentations based on criteria such as clarity of thought, scientific accuracy, and effective communication of complex ideas.As Misba Manzoor prepares to represent JKUT at the National Level competition, the success of NSS-2024 stands as a witness to Kashmir’s commitment to scientific education and innovation. It has not only celebrated the achievements of these young scientists but also inspired countless others to pursue excellence in the field of science and technology. The event moderated by Dr. Sajad Hussain Mir, Head of the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (ESM), with lead support from Javid Ahmad Dar,and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir from the same wing underscore the vital role of institutions like SCERT-JK in fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and critical thinking among the youth, paving the way for a brighter, more innovative future for the region and the nation as a whole.
