“SHIKARGAH”
(Proves its mettle again)
Budgam:-06May 2022.
The purity of folk enthralled the hundreds of spectators yet again.Today when we are of this notion that folk is an age old art and has lost the relevance but this notion has been proved wrong when Shiekh Ul Alam Calligraphy and Cultural Organisation presented a famous folk play titled “SHIKARGAH” at an open air Theatre Wahthora Budgam. This programme was a part of the series aimed to revive the subtlety of folk and attract young generation towards this glorious art of Kashmir. It was a total creative experiment of theatre and the new dimensions of the drama were brought to light. Spectators enjoyed this seamless folk extravaganza and encouraged the artists of the play to continue their in discovering the real tradition of Kashmiri Theatre.”SHIKARGAH” is a wonderful folk play.It is metaphorical in letter and spirit. One gets surprised on understanding the underlined message of the play. Its purity lasts long. The characters are like jungle book but communicate more relevant issues of our civil society. On one hand it lays emphasis on preservation of forests and forest life and on other side it talks about between man and wild life. The world today spends huge amounts to create a proper awareness about the natural echo system. To save earth, such ideas can prove a boon.
All Kashmir Artists Association Chairman Shah Jahan Bhagat was the Chief guest and Sercretary National Bhand Theatre Wahthora,Sh Manzoor ul Haq was the guest of honour on this occasion. This play was sponsored by Sangeet Natak Akademy New Delhi. This premier institute keeps sponsoring such programmes which aim to preserve this glorious chapter of our collective consciousness.
