Seminar on ‘Drug Free Baramulla’ Organized at Govt Degree College Baramulla
Baramulla, July 05, CNS : In view of growing menace of drugs and to spread awareness among the students about ill effects of substance abuse, the District administration in- collaboration with Police Drug de-addiction center Baramulla, Municipal Council Baramulla and Global Youth Foundation today organized a Seminar on ‘Drug Free Baramulla’ at Government Degree College Baramulla in which a large number of students and teachers participated.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided the seminar as the chief guest while as Senior Superintendent of Police, Rayees Mohammad Bhat was the special guest on the occasion. President Municipal Council Baramulla, Touseef Raina was also present on the occasion.
The main aim of the Seminar was to inculcate awareness among the students and people about the drug addiction with the sole objective to eradicate the drug menace from district.
Students from different schools participated in the Seminar and briefly threw light on the methods of de-addiction causes and effects.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Drugs and other narcotics cultivation and related activities are dangerous for the entire society, particularly for younger generation.
She stressed on creating more awareness so that the drug menace is eradicated completely from the society and a message be conveyed to people that drug use is not only banned by the law, but negated by society and religion too.
Speaking on the occassion, DC said that self introspection is a must for all in order to stay away from such evils and ill habits that lead to drug abuse.
She asserted that youth should not groom themselves with gender bias which leads to sketching of abuses. She further reiterated that Success comes to those who tend to be good humans in their lives.
SSP Baramulla in his address deliberated upon the importance of awareness vis-à-vis drug abuse and the possible remedies available.
The representatives of Global Youth Foundation also spoke on the occasion and threw light on ill effects of drugs in society and stressed upon the civil society among religious preachers, teachers and students to come forward to highlight the causes and consequences of drug abuse.(CNS)
