Unity only solution to the problems of the contractors;JCCC
Srinagar, CNS, 18-Jan: Joint Contractors Coordination Committee termed the unity as only solution to the common and long standing problems of the contractors.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, . Farooq Ahmad Dar, General Secretary, Central Contractors Coordinating Committee, said that the contractors are being taken lightly due to which construction work was slowing down.
Dar said that the contractors submitted five point demands and these demands need to be met as soon as possible.He added that the schedule has been drawn up five years ago and since then the cost of material has increased exponentially.
“Those who sell construction materials should also be restrained and action should be taken against those who sell in extra prices”, he added.
Addressing a press conference, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee Ghulam Jilani Parza said that while raising the issue of renewal of contractors’ cards, the records of contractors were not available in the concerned offices. Due to shortcomings of Govt officials, contractors have to bear the brunt . Adding that In the current financial year, there is a fear of lapsing 50% of the funds.
