No Omicron case detected in Srinagar,breach in protocols will invite virus at speedy manner: DC Srinagar
Srinagar,CNS, 06-Jan; The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday said any breach in Covid19 protocols amid possible threat of Omicron variant, will invite virus in a speedy manner.
The DC Srinagar while talking to media said that the present Omicron variant is spreading fast and urged upon people to remain alert and don’t let their guard down.
“We shouldn’t let our guard down. SOPs need to follow in letter and spirit. If not followed it will be disastrous rather suicidal for the society”, the DC added.
The DC further said those samples sent outside for genome sequencing have been received back and there has been no evidence of Omicron variant reported in them.
India is witnessing an exponential rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, which is believed to be driven by the Omicron variant, the Centre said on Wednesday. It also stated that the country’s R naught value that indicates the spread of the infection is 2.69 higher than the 1.69 recorded during the peak of the pandemic’s second wave.
Meanwhile, the Omicron tally in the country reached 2,630, with Maharashtra (797) topping the count, followed by Delhi (465), Rajasthan (236) and Kerala (234). On Wednesday, the Centre confirmed the first Omicron-related death in the country a 74-year-old man with co morbidities, who succumbed to the virus last week in Rajasthan’s Udaipur.(CNS)
