According to official sources for CNS, the department recently hired a junior engineer after seven months of transfer. The engineer who was re-posted in Pulwama was transferred on February 4 this year.
“The engineer was transferred several times in Pulwama and Shopian districts in just a few years. However, the engineer was posted in Shopian in the year 2018 where the District Development Commissioner suspended him for several months due to some irregularities”, officials said.

They further added that schemes worth crores of rupees were implemented in Pulwama in 2007 under the supervision of the said engineer and accordingly the Jal Shakti Department re-introduced schemes worth crores of rupees to ensure water supply to the people in Pulwama.

“It is feared that the appointment of corrupt engineer for the sake of rigging in such schemes in Jal Shakti has called into question of the department’s transfer policy”, they added.

Meanwhile, people including officials have urged higher authorities to establish an enquiry committee into the fraudulent transfers in the department to ensure a transparent management of the departmental affairs.(CNS)
