Hyderpora Encounter: Families demand bodies

Srinagar, CNS, 16-Nov: Family members of building owner Altaf Ahmed and Mudasir Gul urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to help them in taking the bodies of their loved ones back home for proper burial.

Family of Mudasir Gull staged protest in Press Enclave here and demanded his body. “His children are waiting for him and asking for ‘baba’. They don’t know that even his body is not being given,” some wailing women told reporters here
Police should return the body of our son,” said the wailing mother of slain Mudasir, adding that her son was innocent. She appealed LG Manoj Sinha to direct police to return the body of Mudasir to their family so that they can see him one last time.

However, Other family members and relatives of slain Mudasir out rightly rejected police claim that the slain was an OGW stating that “Mudasir had no militant links and was innocent.”

Meanwhile, family of house owner, Altaf Ahmad contested police claims and demanded handing over of the body to them.

Saima Bhat, the niece of slain Bhat, said he was killed in cold blood. “On three occasions, he was taken to the complex and shot. He was used as a human shield. He had no links with any militant group, ” she said.
“We urge the LG Manoj Sinha to direct police to return my father’s body so that we can see him one last time and give him a proper burial”, she demanded.

Abdul Majeed, brother of Altaf Ahmad Dar Amid sobs and tears while demanding body for last rites told reporters that Altaf was father of three minor children with youngest being 2-year-old.
“If it is proved that my brother was even remotely involved, come and destroy our house”, Majeed added.

Earlier while addressing press conference, IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told that bodies will not be handed over to the families due to apprehension of law and order.(CNS)
