1 Killed, Another Injured After Vehicle Falls into Deep Gorge at Margantop

Anantnag, Nov 7 (GNS): A person was killed and another on board passenger injured after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Margangantop in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday evening.

Reports reaching GNS that a sumo bearing registration number JK14-9098 skidded off the road and rolled down a deep gorge, resulting in on spot death of the driver and critical injuries to the passenger. The injured person was evacuated from the site and taken to SDH Kokernag wherefrom he was referred to District Hospital Anantnag for preferential treatment.

SHO Larnoo confirming the incident told GNS that a police team reached the spot soon after the incident.

The official identified the deceased driver as Zahoor Ahmad Lone son of Gh Rasool of Marwah and the injured as Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Hassan of Nadsangad Kokernag. “The injured is under treatment, however his condition is said to be critical”, the official said adding a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations.(GNS)
