“Walk for Youth” Event Unites Srinagar in Fight Against Drug Abuse
Srinagar, June 27: On the International Day Against Drug Abuse, a civil society group “Know your Citizenship” in collaboration with Umar Khan Fountain and Mehboob ul Alam Cricket Club organised a peaceful march, “Walk for Youth”, from Ghat No 1 to 14 on Boulevard Road, Srinagar today. The event aimed to spread awareness among people, particularly the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse. The event saw a significant turnout, with many prominent personalities from various fields, including art, culture, sports, business, and more, participating in the walk. The event witnessed huge participation of important figures, school children, social activists and social workers. The prominent participants were Shabir Ahmad Shah, Chairman Mehboob ul Alam Sports, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Chairman Umer KhanFoundation, Masood Ahmad, Chinar Valley Trust,. The role of Parveez Jamwal is significant in organizing the successful event. Prominent figures Khan Raja covered the entire ” “Walk for youth” from Ghat No 1 to 18 professionally. Representations of Rasheed fitness club, Care Foundation, Foundation for youth Web, Govt Girls High School Drugjan Gagribal Srinagar, Govt Boys High School Zadibal Srinagar. Sunrisers Zoonimar, Gani Memorial Stadium Rajouri Kadal, Zoonimar Cricket Club, Ali Jana Cricket Club and Jinab Sahib Soura were worth to mention.
On the occassion Syed Humyun Kaisar, Ex Ranji Player and Broadcaster said that these events have a significant impact on the society and it is need of an hour to participate in such programs. Shabir Ahmad Shah, graced the occasion and emphasized the importance of sports in eliminating drugs from society. “Sportsmen need to be fit both physically and mentally,” Shah said. “Drug abuse can ruin a sportsperson’s career and life. It’s essential to promote sports as a healthy alternative to drugs, and I believe that together, we can create a drug-free society.” The “Walk for Youth” event aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
