World Press Freedom Day: Passport office holds meditation Program for Journalist’s
Srinagar, May 03: In a unique initiative aimed at promoting mental health and well-being of journalists on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the Regional Passport Office in Srinagar organized a meditation sessiono under the banner of Vihangam Yog meditation on Wednesday where meditation instructor Bharat Ratna described about its philosophy and taught how to practice.
Journalists from various media organizations in the region participated in the program, which focused on various steps towards improving mental health and overall well-being.
The event began with a welcome speech by the Regional Passport Officer, who highlighted the importance of mental health for journalists who are often exposed to stressful situations and work under tight deadlines, then instructor Bharat Ratna explained the topic elaborately and taught the process beautifully.
During the program, participants were taught Vihangam Yog meditation technique and breathing exercises that could help reduce stress and anxiety. The instructors also talked about the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and taking breaks from work to recharge one’s energy.
Speaking on the occasion, one of the journalists who participated in the program said, “It was a much-needed break from our hectic schedules. The meditation techniques were simple and effective. It was a great initiative by the Regional Passport Office.”
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the organizers, who expressed hope that such initiatives would continue in the future to promote the well-being of journalists.
