Locals demand macadamisation of Chitragam to Shopian
Shopain, CNS, 03-Oct: A vital road of Chitragam is in deplorable condition with locals demanding immediate black topping of this road which connects over a dozen villages with district headquarter of Shopian and each other.
Locals in the area told CNS that the link road connecting from Bijbehara to Chitragam has been being macadamised. However, Chitragam to Shopian road has been neglected by the authorities once again. As per locals, the last macdamisation was done in 1997.
“We don’t understand what is the reason that the main road has been left in deplorable condition and its adjoining links are being macadamised,” Zahoor Bhat, a local said.
The residents have been running from pillar to post, pleading before authorities of Roads and Buildings department (R&B) and other higher authorities for macdamisation of the road.
“The road has become accident prone due to its bad condition but no heed is being given to the suffering of people,” said Suhail Ahmed, another local resident.
“We have been informing the higher ups and they have been assuring us that the road will be macadamised but their promises prove hoax all the time,” residents alleged.
The residents have once again requested the LG Manoj Sinha administration to kindly intervene in this matter and direct the concerned department to take immediate action.(CNS)
