Altaf Thakur inaugurates Cricket Premier League at Sail, Awantipore
Says sports best tool to keep youth away from drugs, wrong path; BDC Abdul Ahad announces Rs 4.5 lakh for renovation of Sail cricket ground
Awantipore, March 26: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur today inaugurated the Cricket Premier League (CPL) at Sail area of Awantipore in which many teams will participate.
Addressing the large number of youth, locals and elderly people of the area, Thakur said that sports are important tool to explore the hidden talent of youth and to holding Cricket tournaments provide best platform to youth to show their talent. Thakur said that the Sail area of Awantipore has a great talent which needs to be explored. “Sports is the best way to keep youth away from treading wrong path and to keep them away from drugs and other bad habits. Sports develops the youth mentally and physically,” he said, adding that “such tournaments will continue to be organized in future also and youth will be kept engaged in different sports related activities.”
Present on the occasion, Block Development Council chairman Abdul Ahad announced Rs 4.5 lakh for the renovation and further development of the Sail play ground. He said that youth need better sports facilities and the government was committed to provide best facilities to the youth. District President Nazir Ahmed who was also present on the occasion, hailed the locals and youth for showing interest in sports activities.
