Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his third consecutive term in Delhi by signing the inaugural file related to the farmers’ welfare scheme, ‘PM Kisan Nidhi’. Following the swearing-in ceremony, where 72 Union Ministers assumed office, the immediate focus shifted to convening a Cabinet meeting.
The forthcoming session aims to formally request President Murmu to summon Parliament, featuring the Presidentโs address outlining the governmentโs vision and priorities. The grand ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan saw President Murmu administering the oath to PM Modi and his cabinet.
Notable figures like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S Jaishankar were among those who took the oath. Among the new inductees are three former chief ministers and actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, reflecting a diverse blend of youth and experience within the Council of Ministers.
PM Modi expressed his commitment to serving all Indians and collaborating with the Council to propel India to greater heights of progress. The first cabinet meeting, scheduled for the evening at the Prime Ministerโs residence, Lok Kalyan Marg, will be followed by the allocation of ministerial portfolios.
Notably, the new cabinet offers significant representation to states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, with Bihar securing four cabinet berths and Uttar Pradesh receiving nine ministerial positions. Additionally, forty-two ministers hail from the Other Backward Class (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, though the cabinet lacks Muslim representation.
