DGP chairs high level meeting to review progress of “targets & goals” set for Jammu Zone
Ensure closer supervision on NDPS/UAPA cases to get better results: DGP to officers
Jammu, November 17: The Director General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh today chaired officers meeting at Police Headquarters, Jammu today to review the progress “targets & goals” set for the Jammu Zone Police on different fronts for the year 2022.
ADGP Jammu Zone, Shri Mukesh Singh, ADGP Headquarters PHQ, Shri M. K. Sinha, ADGP Coordination PHQ, Shri Danesh Rana, IGP Headquarters PHQ, Shri B.S Tuti, DPT J&K Shri Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu Shri Chandan Kholi, all AIsG of PHQ and other gazetted officers of PHQ attended the meeting at PHQ while as range DIsG of Jammu Zone, Shri Sunil Gupta, Shri Vivek Gupta, Shri Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, Dr Mohammed Haseeb Mughal, Districts SSsP of Jammu Zone attended the meeting through video conferencing.
At the very outset of the meeting the DGP complimented the zone, range and district level officers for their supervision to achieve the set targets & goals fixed for the period 2022. However, he impressed upon the officers that they need to contribute more by conducting supervisory meetings and by ensuring closer supervision of important cases, especially NDPS/UAPA cases to get better results for the remaining period of the year. He advised them to improve the quality of investigation and prosecution to increase the convictions.
The DGP impressed upon officers to identify more investigating officers and train them to deal with increasing number of cases. He said that investigators have to equip themselves with best investigation skills and take each and every necessary measure to ensure conviction of UAPA, Narco and other sensitive cases in the courts of law. He directed the officers to augment measures for improving capability of personnel in dealing with Narco cases and UAPA cases.
Referring to the directions of Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah & Hon’ble Lt. Governor J&K Shri Manoj Sinha the DGP flagged that the drug menace has emerged as a big threat as the ill gotten money from the drug trade is being used for terror activities. He impressed for speedy and quality investigation of NDPS to increase the conviction rate. He impressed to work on mission mode on the two fronts of NDPS and UAPA. Directing for destruction of drug related crops, the DGP advised the district officers to initiate seizure of properties raised by drug proceeds.
Highlighting the need for establishing Pairvy cells at district, range and zonal levels the DGP exhorted upon the officers to ensure that the police witnesses are well prepared for deposing in the courts. He directed the officers to dispose of the pending cases on the basis of their sensitivity in the shortest possible time. Referring to the bovine smuggling the DGP said that it is an organised crime and there is a need to break the nexus further. He directed officers to put more efforts to identify the main culprits behind the nexus and take strenuous action against those involved.
The DGP said that Police Headquarters is ready to support with all assistance needed to improve the quality investigation and working of Police personnel.
The DGP directed the officers to increase the range of activities under the Civic Action Programme, particularly in border areas to provide the youth of these areas various platforms. He impressed upon officers to visit border areas frequently to review the Border out posts functioning. He directed the officers to review records of history sheeters from time to time and open files of the persons found in illegal and anti social activities and publicise such Police work.
Reviewing the Savera Scheme for the NoKs of martyrs the DGP directed for updation of the data base of the families of martyrs and directed for regular meetings/visits of the police officers to the families of the martyrs. He also emphasized to explore possibilities of introducing more welfare schemes for the children of the martyrs.
