4th day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’: Chup Kar play enthrall audience at Tagore Hall
Srinagar, CNS, 30-Mar: The play of Jammu based theatre group staged on the fourth day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’ pulled the audience to Tagore Hall here.
The play titled Chup Kar is in Hindustani language and by Ridhiaksh Theatre and Film Productions, Jammu (Writer- Shazi Khan, Director- Rajeev Rana).
Writer of the play Shazi Khan said that it was a wonderful experience to perform in Kashmir. “We have staged this play for the first time in the valley and it was my wish,” he said.
“We are thrilled by such an overwhelming response from the audience,” Shazi said.
The other plays that were staged included Darze Paether in Kashmiri by S R Theatre, Repore, Ganderbal (conceived by Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and Directed by Sahil Shafi), Nyay in Kashmiri by Feroz Cultural Forum, Badipur, Budgam (Writer – Dr Aziz Hajni, Director – Rafiq Ahmad Dar).
The second edition of the festival will conclude on 2nd April and is being organised by Actors Creative Theatre (ACT) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
The students of different schools, colleges and theatre lovers were impressed by the performances of the artists and the hall witnessed whispering and applause.
Three plays will be staged on Thursday (31st March) which include Negative in Kashmiri by ACT, (Writer- Shaikh Haneef, Director – Zubair Farooq & Tahir Najar), Vyeth Rozi Pakaan in Kashmiri by Firdous Dramatic Club (Writer & Director– Hassan Javaid) and ‘Shah Shahni’ in Hindustani by Viraj Kala Kendra (Writer & Director – Rajneesh Kumar Gupta).
Festival director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said that students got a new experience after two years of dead life due to Covid lockdown. “They had nothing to do at their homes during lockdown but their participation in the plays have refreshed their spirits,” he said.
Khan said that he is happy that they have restarted the theatre activities in the valley after a gap of more than two years. “And we will continue to do this so as to enthrall our audience,” he said.(CNS)
