SMC Mayor chairs snow preparedness meeting
Srinagar, CNS, 02-Dec; Mayor Srinagar Mr Junaid Azim Mattu today conducted meeting with various senior Officers of the Corporation to review preparedness for snow clearance and dewatering exercise in the city in view of snow forecast.
He at the outset of meeting passed on clear cut directions that there should be no impediment in the snow clearance program. A detailed program of deploying snow clearance vehicles/ tractors in all the 74 wards was chalked out in the meeting.
Chief Transport Officer on the occasion was directed to ensure proper and sufficient supply of fuel to the snow clearance vehicles and all these 70 tractors including other snow clearance machines should be in a complete state of readiness and deployed in advance in all the 74 electoral wards.
He directed the concerned that there has to be a swift removal of snow from the main stretches from early morning from all the areas and roads leading to vital destinations including Hospitals, Ration Depos, Institutions and offices.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer Right and left Works Division SMC, Exn Mech, Exn Engineer City Roads Divison Srinagar, Chief Sanitation Officer ,Chief Transport Officer SMC, Stores Officer and others.Joint Commisssioner adm Syed Abul Qasim, S.E Drainage Ahsaan ul Haq , Chief Sanitation Officer Mudasir Banday, Chief Transport Officers Syed Nisar, corporator Tanveer Pathan and others.
During the course of meeting Mr Mattu passed on directions to be attentive and ensure snow clearance from all the city lanes , worship places , Hospitals , Roads , important institutions etc by putting men and machinery on job So that no resident faces any inconvenience due to snow accumulation.
He said the immediate priority is to ensure all roads leading to hospitals and religious places, including shrines and gurdwaras, will be cleared for hassle free movement of public and traffic.
The meeting informed that all the men and machinery including JCB’s , Hoppers and vehicles are in a state of readiness and a mock drill excersise has been practiced in all the wards earlier in this regard.
Similarly the meeting informed that besides 85 Permanent dewatering stations which are fully functional , the services of 32 mobile pumps will be utilised / deputed to cater to water logging issues in different areas in the city as and when the situation arises to be.(CNS)
