Noor Shah
Noor Shah is a person of note for Urdu readers. Born in 1936 at Dalgate Srinagar Kashmir, a kernel of literature. His literary influence has not only set platform for romantic writing, but also a verve that was kept behind the blanket for want of expression found its platform. Noor Shah pulled the curtain and visualised amorousness within the ambits of countersignature and created a niche of his own by adding a flavour in his fiction. A daring move that earned him a name as a proactive fiction writer. Apart from short stories, the author has written eighty dramas for Radio Kashmir and Jammu. The author’s resourcefulness can be taken into account by getting into his Novels like Payal Ke Zakhm, Neeli Jheel Kalay Saye and Aao Sou Jayein. The novelist has also in his credit a few novelettes like Adhi Raat Ka Suraj, Lamhe Aur Zanjeerien. Not only dramas and novels, but the author has written several TV serials like: Dard Ka Rishta (13 episodes), Gul Aur Bulbul (13 episodes), Neelma (13 episodes), Solar Energy in J &K (4 episodes), Gull (a 30 minute documentary) and a feature film Urdu in Kashmiri. Noor Shah’s short story collection include Be Ghat Ki Nav, Veeranay Ke Phool, Ek Raat Ki Malika, Man Ka Aagan Udas Udas, Geelay Pathroun Ki Mehak, Be Samar Sach and Aasman, Phool Aur Lahoo. Many M.Phil and Doctorate degrees have been conferred to scholars for analysing the literary works of the author. The habit of writing diary proved so fruitful to the author that he could write Band Kamrey Ki Khidki out of his diary entries.
Noor Shah has relished many important posts like Director Rural Development, Director, Science & Technology Department, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive J &K Energy Development Agency. He was presented Best Book Award by late Jenab G M Sadiq Chief Minister J &K State. J &K Urdu Academy Award- 2008 for Band Kamrey Ki Khidki. Dr. Brij Prem Literary Award- 2010, Kashmir Cultural Award -2010-11 (Urdu Academy of Pakistan Administered J & K), Bakshi Memorial Award-2014, Tamil-e- Irshad Adbi Award 2018, J &K State Govt. Literary Award (Urdu literature)-2019 and many more.
